I was an RIA/stock picker, using the HOLT CFROI framework for 20 yrs. The power of HOLT was to identify the right 3 or 4 pieces of data to focus on to make informed decisions..quickly. Sort of ‘Moneyball’ meets Gladwellian ‘Blink’.

Results: #3 Large Cap Core manager for trailing 1/3/5/7 yrs in ’03. #1 in ‘09.

Solid relative performance on the upside (3–400bps above S&P), GREAT absolute risk management.

We are building tools to do somethings similar in the private markets. Would welcome comparing notes.
